The Chamber

Built in 1575 by Thomas Seckford of the Court of Requests to Queen Elizabeth I, the Shire Hall has been

a focal point of the town for over 400 years.Originally a sessions hall above and a corn market below,

it was restored in 1864 and used as a Magistrates Court. In 1987 it was bought by the Town Council

as its Council Chamber and adjoining offices, whilst the first floor is the home of the Suffolk Horse Museum.
